Nowhere is this more apparent than in a cape in the northernmost tip of the island, Tanjung Rhu (tan-joong-roo) - a scenic and untouched enclave nestled in the shade of luxuriant casuarina trees. Here lies the Tanjung Rhu Resort - a deluxe resort fringing the long, magnificent bay that leads to the clear, cool waters of the Andaman Sea.

Each room is spacious, with timber floors and large windows, to take advantage of the tropical breeze and your choice of enchanting garden, pool or sea view. Employing the best of the Asian-Eastern influence, our decor is complemented with upholstery and drapes in soft Thai silk and pure Indian cotton fabrics.

All rooms are equipped with TV, video and compact disc player, private bar and oversized bath with separate shower. Bayu and Anjung rooms are equipped with dataport.

The Rhu
A restaurant that embodies the grace and elegance of the casuarina tree. This fine-dining restaurant with air-conditioned and alfresco sections - serving East-meets-West seafood cuisine, amidst the soft strains of a serenading string quartet.

Sands
Sands is an alfresco casual all-day dining restaurant offering local and western fare. This beachfront restaurant with ponds and ceiling fans, serves a variety of Malaysian and Western cuisine. It is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
You can experience the Sands Restaurant in either low or high resolution format.

Saffron
This popular Eastern flavouring lives up to its name at this restaurant. This Mediterranean Restaurant is a popular spot any time of the day. Saffron also has an alfresco section with an unencumbered view of Tanjung Rhu's stunning sunsets.

Reading Room
A cool, quiet haven with a magnificent view, the Reading Room - besides being the venue of English Tea, or coffee, with hot scones, pastries and savouries - also 'serves' an extensive collection of books and magazines for guests' reading pleasure. Also available are compact discs and videotapes of movies which you can enjoy in the privacy of your own room.

BBQ Dinner on the Beach
Imagine, enjoying a romantic evening with your loved one, sipping champagne while watching the sun slowly setting across the far horizon, as far as the eye can see. The moon and star will then appear subtly to welcome the clear evening sky.

It is then our colleague, your private waiter, begins his task of serving our highly recommended, combination of sumptuous, delicious, mouthwatering and exotic selection of a Private Barbeque Dinner on a stretch of 2.5 km of white sandy beach meant for just the two of you.

The Tanjung Rhu Resort's newly built Our Pavilion Meeting Room specially designed to suit even the most fastidious of needs in an environment between sophistication and Mother Nature's treasure, capable of seating 100 persons in a theatre set up. Equipped with the state-of-art audio and video facilities, the Pavillion Meeting Room is a convenient facility for participants to enhance their 'Convene Experience'.

Airport Transfer
Guests can choose to be picked up at an additional charge from the Langkawi International Airport - 30 minutes away by car from the Tanjung Rhu Resort. Hotel's transportation available are either the chauffeured Daimler limousine, or coaster (shuttle van).

Self-Drive
If you're feeling adventurous, and want to discover Langkawi on your own, do so in style with our convertible Peugeots. Of course, a valid international driving licence is a must. We drive on the left side of the road.

Shuttle Service to Town
The distance between the Tanjung Rhu Resort and Langkawi's town centre Kuah, is 28 km. By car, this journey will take about 30 minutes. This shuttle service is available to guests at scheduled times daily at a minimal charge.

Cave Exploration
Langkawi's limestone caves are geological masterpieces created over millions of years ago and Tanjung Rhu Resort offers guests a chance to get a close-up view of the caves. Explore some of the caves around Tanjung Rhu - each with its very own legend. Some are inhabited by bats while others have interesting and varied wildlife.
