In
Malacca you'll find the typical mix of authentic Malay
and Chinese food, and 1, the city was the major settling
place for the Peranakans in Malaysia, their unique style
of food is featured in many of the local restaurants.
A
good recommendation for a quick bite at lunch or dinner
if you're strolling 11 the historical area is the long
string of open-air food stalls along Jalan Merdeka,
just between Mahkota Plaza Shopping and Warrior Square.
Mama Fatso’s is especially good for Chinese style
seafood and Malay sambal curry. A good meal will run
you about RM35 to RM40 (US$9.20-US$11) per person. And
believe me, it's a good meal.
Capers
Restaurant CONTINENTAL This is the nicest fine-dining
establishment in Malacca at the moment, which means
it is quite formal and pricey compared to the rest.
Warm lighting and crystal and silver flatware are only
a w of the many details that add to the elegant and
romantic atmosphere. The signature dishes, like grilled
tenderloin, come from the charcoal grill. The panfried
sea bass is served quite artfully in a ginger and dill
sauce over bok choy and potatoes. Their wine list is
large and international (including Portuguese selectio'ns,
in keeping with the Malacca theme).
