The Datai. Aesthetically speaking, this is one of my favorite resorts in Soudmast Asia, coming damn close to heaven. Darai is the epitome of sublime, its tropical resort design incorporating nature at every turn. Beyond the graceful open air lobby, pass the lily pond courtyard, to the Datai's brilliant lounge.1 hillside veranda surrounded by lush jungle and suspended above a breathtaking bay. Rooms and villas, also built into the hillside, are expert in their studied Southeast Asian elegance. Minimalist in design, the color schemes stick close to nature, with rosewood tones, deep local tapestries, and regal cel ado it -colored upholstery. Even lower-priced deluxe rooms have a quaint seating area with a View, plus an oversize bathroom with designer body-care products, separate stall shower, and long bathtub. Guest facilities, which include two pools, a spa, and "OH-course, show the same meticulous attention to luxury. A top pick.
