All buses have a gray machine with a sensor pad close to the driver. Tap Your EZ-Link care when you board and alight, and the fare will be automatically deducted. It'll be anywhere between S80( and S$1.60. If you're paying cash, be sure to have exact change; place the coins in the red box by the driver and announce your fare to him. He'll issue a ticket, which will pop out of a slot on one of the TransitLink machines behind him.
The Tourist Day Ticket is a great deal for travelers. The 1-day pass costs S$10 (US$5.70), and is good for 12 rides on either SBS or TIBS buses or the MRT Using one of these will save you having to worry about calculating the correct fare or coming up with exact change. You can pick one up at any TransitLink office and at hotels, money-changers, provisioner shops, or travel agents. Unfortunately, there's no handy sign identifying which shops sell them, so you'll have to ask around.
For more information, contact either of the two operating bus lines during standard business hours: Singapore Bus Service (SBS) (18001 287-2727) or the Trans-Island Bus Service (TIBS)( 1800J482-5433).
You have a couple of trolley options; both services are offered for the convenience of travelers, making stops at most major tourist destinations. Plying between Bugis Junction, Suntec City, the Historic District, the Singapore River, Chinatown, Orchard Road and the Singapore Botanic Gardens, the Hop-on comes every 30 minutes between the hours of 8:30am and 7pm. Unlimited rides for one day cost S$6 (US$3.45) adults and S$4 (US$2.30) children. Buy your tickets from your hotels front desk, from a Singapore Airlines office, or from the bus drivers.
