Merdeka Squer Surrounded by colonial architecture with an exotic local Air, the square is a large field that was once the site of British social and sport, rvents. National Art Galery The building that now houses the National Art Gallery was built as the Majestic Hotel in 1932 and has been restored to display coniyorary works by Malaysian artists. National Mosque (Mesjid Negara) Built in a modern design, the most distyuishing features of the mosque are its 73m (243-ft.) minaret and the ii brella-shaped roof, which is said to symbolize a newly independent Malaysia's aspirations for the future. National Museum (Muzim Negara) ** Located at Lake Gardens, the museumhas more than 1,000 items of historic, cultural, and traditional signifwce, including art, weapons, musical instruments, and costumes. Jalan Damansara. 03/2282-6255. Admission RM1 (US25Q), children under 12 free. Daily 9am-6pm.
National Planetarium Kids The National Planetarium has a Space Hall with touch-screen interactive computers and hands-on experiments, a Viewing vllery with binoculars for a panoramic view of the city, and an Ancient Obsernury Park with models of Chinese and Indian astronomy systems.
