BY TRAIN The Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTM) trains arrive and depart from the Johor Bahru Railway Station at Jalan Tun Abdul Razak, opposite Merlin Tower (07/223-4727). (arch trains from KL Sentral ( 03/ 2730-2000) four times daily for a cost between RM14 and RMSG (US$3.G0 and US$15), depending on the class you travel. From the Singapore Railway Station (65/6222-5165), on Keppel Road in Tanjong Pagar, the short trip is between S$1.10 and S$4.20 (USGS¢ and US$2.50).

BY PLANE The Sultan Ismail Airport, 30 to 40 minutes outside the city (07/599-4737), has regular flights to and from major cities in Malaysia and also from Singapore. The airport tax is RM20 (US$5.25) for international flights and RM5 (US$1.30) for domestic, but this is usually reflected in the price of the ticket. For reservations on Malaysian Airlines flights call , 1300/ 88-3000 in Johor Bahru. A taxi from the airport to the city center will run you RM20 to IZM25 (US$5.25-US$G.GO) per person. There's also a Hertz counter, but to make your reservation you must call their downtown office at (07/ 223-7520. A RM4 (US$1.05) coach service runs between the airport and the JOTIC tourist information center in town. BY TAXI Outstation taxis can bring you to Johor Bahru from any major city on the peninsula. From Khs Puduraya Bus Terminal (03/2078-0213) outstation Taxi) the cost is about RM220 (US$58). The outstation taxi stand is located at Larkin Bus Terminal, but for an extra RM10 (US$2.G5) they'll pick you up at your hotel.
