Renaissance Kuala Lumpur Hotel The Renaissance has become a very elegant address in KL, its most recent claim to fame was hosting the U.S. secretary of state during his last visit to the city. It's actually two hotels in one, since the Renaissance absorbed its neighbor, The New World. Renaissance's lobby is a huge oval colonnade with a domed ceiling and massive marble columns rising from the sides of a geometric star burst on the floor. Guest rooms in the Renaissance Wing have an equally "official" feel to them-very bold and impressive, and completely European in style. In fact, you'll never know you're in Malaysia. The New World Wing is less opulent, with plain furnishings and bathrooms devoid of luxurious touches. Renaissance is essentially two hotels in one, with facilities sharing, so expect restaurants and leisure facilities to be more crowded than at other places, and service to be less personalized.
