FACTS KUALA LUMPUR 5
The Legend Hotel Sitting on top of a very large shopping complex, this hotel doesn't actually start until you reach the ninth story. From an unimpressive entrance, you're whisked on an express elevator to the vast lobby, which features earthy toned marble Chinese touches such as carved wood furniture and terra-cotta warrior statues. Guest rooms are spacious, and all overlook the city, but ask to face the Twin Towers for the best view. Also, the less expensive rooms seem to have the nicest decor, with softer tones and modern touches. The executive rooms are rather strange-mine had a bright pink frilly bedcover and amenities included a packet of generic made in China pantyhose. Facilities are highlighted by an outdoor pool with a great view, and the convenience off the shopping mall beneath. Another good features to consider here is free Internet in-room via your flat-screen interactive TV The hotel is, however, located a little outside the main shopping and dining action of the city.

Mellia Kuala Lumpur * Value This tourist-class hotel had nothing special to boast until recently. The opening of a KL Monorail station just outside, combined with a giant shopping and entertainment complex across the street, has certainly added great value. The small lobby is functional, with space for tour groups and a very active and efficient tour desk. Newly renovated guest rooms have light wood furnishings, contemporary decorator fixtures, wall desks with a swivel arm for extra space, and large-screen TVs. Bathrooms, while small, are well maintained with good counter space. Mealtimes in the hotel's coffee shop can be a little crowded.
