About Singapore Malaysia

INTO SINGAPORE

There's no restriction on the amount of currency you can bring into Singapore. For those over 18 years of age who have arrived from countries other than Malaysia and have spent more than 48 hours outside Singapore, allowable duty-free concessions are 1 liter of spirits; 1 liter of wine; and 1 liter of either port, sherry, or beer, all of which must be intended for personal consumption only. There are no duty-free concessions on cigarettes or other tobacco items. If you exceed the duty-free limitations, you can bring your excess items in upon payment of goods and services tax (GST) and Customs duty.
Upon departure, you'll be required to pay a departure tax of S$15. Nowadays, this tax is usually added onto your airfare. Ask your airline if this is the case. If not, coupons for the amount can be purchased at most hotels, travel agencies, and airline offices.

The following items are not allowed through Customs unless you have authorization or an import permit: animals; birds and their by-products; plants; endangered species or items made from these species; arms and explosives; bulletproof clothing; toy guns of any type; weapons, including decorative swords and knives; cigarette lighters in the shape of pistols; toy coins; pornographic prerecorded videotapes and cassettes, website, or magazines; controlled substances; poisons; and materials that may be considered treasonable (plutonium, military maps-that kind of thing). For all pharmaceutical drugs, especially sleeping pills, depressants, or stimulants, you must provide a prescription from your physician authorizing personal use for your well-being.
All inquiries can be directed to the Customs Office at Changi International Airport (t 65/6542-7058) or to the automated Customs hot line at Ct 65/6355-2000 (Mon-Fri 8am5pm, Sat 8am-noon). A detailed rundown can be found on the net at the Ministry of Home Affairs home page .
