JAZZ BARS

Brewerkz Brewerkz, with outside seating along the river and an airy contemporary style inside-like a giant IKEA room built around brewing kettles and ,upper pipes-brews the best house beer in Singapore. The bar menu features five tasty brew selections from recipes created by their English brew master: Nut Brown Ale, Red Ale, Wiesen, Bitter, and Indian Pale Ale (which, by the way, has (lie highest alcohol content). Their American cuisine lunch, dinner, and snack menu is also very good-I recommend planning a meal here as well. Open Sun-Thurs 5pm-lam; Fri-Sat 5pm-3am. Happy hour is held daily 3-9pm with 2-for-1 beers. #01-05 Riverside Point, 30 Merchant Rd. 65/438-7438.

Harry’s Quayside Bar & Upstairs at Harry's Wine ear The official afterwork drink stop for finance professionals from nearby Shenton Way, Harry's biggest claim to fame is that it was bank-buster Nick Leesods favorite bar. But don't let the power ties put you off. Harry's is a cool place, from airy riverside ,eating, to cozy tables next to the stage. Harry's is known for its live jazz and IZ&B music, which is always good. Of all the choices along Boat Quay, Harry's remains the most classy; and even though it's also the most popular, you can usually get a seat. Dig their Sunday jazz brunches. Upstairs, the wine bar is very laid hack, with plush sofas and dimly lit seating areas. Look for Harry's latest installment, scheduled to open in early 2003 at The Esplanade. It's being touted as the hottest hub for musicians and other artiste-types. Open Sun-Thurs 1 lam-lam; Fri-Sat 1 1 am-2am. Happy hour daily 1 1 am-9pm. 28 Boat Quay. 65/6538-3029.
