The American Express office is at Mayflower Acme Tours, Ground Floor, Sultan Ahmad Shah Airport (09/538-3490). Most major banks are located appropriately along Jalan Bank, near the State Mosque.

The central post office 09/552-1078) is near the State Mosque on Jln. Haji Abdu1 Aziz. Internet service is available from a couple of cafes at the Kompleks Makmur; check the shopping mall adjacent to the bus terminal.
Kuantan is not a very large place, and most of those who vacation here prefer to stay just a little farther north, in Cherating, which is more established as a resort destination. If staying in Kuantan is important to you, though, the Hotel Grand continental is a decent, centrally located place. Near the beach at Telok Chempedak, the Hyatt Regency is as romantic and relaxing as any place at Cherating.

Hotel Grand Continental Located in the heart of Kuantan, this hotel is near central mosque. It's a simple three-star hotel, run by a budget hotel chain in Down Under. New and adequate facilities are somewhat reminiscent of the Os. The front view of the bridge and river is more pleasant than the view in rear rooms.

Hyatt Regency Kuantan * * The Hyatt Regency is located on the beach at iuk Chempedak, about 10 minutes outside of Kuantan proper. The long stretch of sandy beach bordering it is perfect for relaxation and fun, and in the evening the crashing waves are the perfect romantic backdrop. Hyatt has built a five-star resort here, and it is five-star in every sense, from outstanding facilities to large well-appointed rooms. The lobby is open-air so you can practically look out onto the sea as you check in. Guest rooms are in two blocks-while all have balconies, higher priced rooms have sea views.
