LITTLE FARTHER 2

Long Beach Seafood Restaurant SEAFOOD They really pack 'em in at this place. Tables are crammed together in what resembles a big indoor pavilion, complete with festive lights and the sounds of mighty feasting. This is one of the best places for fresh seafood of all kinds: fish like garoupa (grouper), sea bass, marble goby, and hingfish, and other creatures of the sea from prawns to crayfish. The chile crab here is good, but the house specialty is really the pepper crab, Lhopped and deliciously smothered in a thick concoction of black pepper and soy. Huge Chunks of crayfish are also tasty in the black pepper sauce, and can be served in variations like barbecue, sambal, steamed with garlic, or in a bean sauce. Don't forger to order buns so you can sop up the sauce. You can also get vegetable, chicken, beef, or venison dishes to complement, or choose from their mum selection of local favorites.

Palm Beach * SEAFOOD Palm Beach has two levels. Downstairs you have a dining hall that is extremely underdressed and informal, while upstairs is a lovely upscale setting. The food is great in either setting (the menu is the same), and vcrv reasonably priced. Australian lobster graces the finest dish herecooked in a clay pot- with coconut milk and chile sauce. Their chile crab is also (,real, but to me seems a bit "local" if you're dining upstairs. Besides, it's very messy. A gift shop outside lets you bring home jars of hot pot sauce, achar (sweet sauce), Chile sauce, and sambal. On weekends if you don't have a reservation, You'll have to queue Up.
