Genting has four hotels of varying prices within the resort. Rates vary depending on the season, so be prepared for higher rates during the winter holidays.
Genting Hotel is a newer property in the resort complex, and is linked directly to the casino. Promotional rates can be as low as RM97 (US$26) for low period weekdays. The Highlands Hotel's main attraction is its direct link to the casino. You'll pay the highest rate here, as promotional rates in this hotel are very rare. Resort Hotel is comparable to the Theme Park Hotel below, but it's a little newer and the double occupancy rooms all have two double beds and stand by showers only. The Theme Park Hotel is a little less expensive than the others, primarily because it's a little older and you must walk outside to reach the casino. Promotional rates during the week can be as low as RM62 for up to a ruc people in one room. The Resort casino is open 24 hours. Entry is a refundable deposit of RM200 l ti$53) whether you're a guest at the resort or just visiting for the day. By the way, you must be at least 21 years old to enter the casino. Outside of the casino, there's also a pond, a bowling alley and an indoor heated pool. 'The Awana Golf mid Country Club ((t 03/6101-3025; fax 03/6101-3535) is the premier golf course in these hills. For children, there's the huge Genting Theme Park, covering 100,000 square feet and mostly filled with rides, plus many Western fast-food eating outlets, games, and other attractions. At night Gentings dinner theaters we pop concerts by international (mostly Asian) performers, and everything ~,mi lion dance competitions to Wild West and magic shows. For dining, the most highly recommended place is The Peak Restaurant & Lounge, Genting's fine-dining restaurant on the 17th floor of the Genting Hotel.
For buses from Kuala Lumpur, call Genting Highlands Transport, operating buses every half-hour from 6:30am to 9pm daily from the Pekeliling Bus 1, terminal on Jalan Ipoh. The cost for one way is RM2.60 (US70c) and the trip takes 1 hour. The bus lets you off at the foot of the hill, where you take the cable ii to the top for RM3 (US804). For bus information, call 03/4041-0173. You can also get there by hiring an outstation taxi. The cost is RM40 1'ti$11) and can be arranged by calling the Puduraya outstation taxi stand at 03/2078-0213.
