SINGAPORE CLUBS 4
Beaujolais This little gem of a place, in a shophouse built on a hill, is smaller than small, but its charm makes it a favorite for loyal regulars. Two tables out side (on the Five-Foot-Way, which serves more as a patio than a sidewalk) and two tables inside doesn't seem like much room, but there's more seating upstairs. They believe that wine should be affordable, and so their many labels tend to be ~Me moderately priced per glass and bottle. Hours are Mon=hours .1111-midnight; Fri 11am-2am; Sat 6pm-2am. Happy, hour is held from open until PM. 1 Ann Siang Hill. 65/6224-2227.
Que Pasa One of the more mellow stops along Peranakan place, this little wine bar serves up a collection of some 70 to 100 labels with plenty of atmosphere and a nice central location. It's another bar in a shophouse, but this one has as its centerpiece a very unusual winding stairway up the air shaft to the level above. Wine bottles and artwork line the walls. In the front you can order Spanish-style finger food-tapas, anyone?-and cigars. The VIP club on the upper floor has the look and feel of a formal living room, complete with wing chairs and board games. Hours are Sun-Thurs 6pm-2am; Fri-Sat 6pm-3am. 7 Emerald Hill. 65/235-6626.
