SINGAPORE ISLAND 5

Recently, Images of Singapore had added the Festivals of Singapore, another life-size diorama exhibit depicting a few of the major festivals and traditions of the Chinese, Malay, Indian, and feranakan cultures in Singapore. For each group, wedding traditions are shown in complete regalia, with brief explanations of the customs. While this exhibit is not quite like being there and would be dull as a stand-alone, it's not bad tacked on to the other two. Try to catch the video presentation at the end-a tribute to Singapore's strides in "cultural integration" told in true "It's a small world after all" style.6516275-0388. Adults S$5 (US$2.85), children S$3 (US$1.70). Daily 9am-9pm. Monorail stop 4. no Museum The Maritime Museum is a showcase devoted to Singapore's ever-important connection to the sea. From ship models to artifacts, sea charts, and photos, the museum tells the story of 14 centuries of maritime life. 6516270-8855. Free admission. Daily 10am-7pm. Closest to monorail stop 7, then walk along Gateway Ave.
Imagine, if you will, 12 towering stories of that half-lion, halffish creature, the Merlion. That's a lot of mythical beast. Admission buys you an elevator ride to the ninth floor, where you can peer out the mouth, and to the top of its head for a 3G0° view of Singapore, Sentosa, and even Indonesia. Be at the Fountain Gardens at 7:30, 8:30, and 9:30pm nightly for the "Rise of the Merlion" show, where they light up the thing with 16,000 fiber-optic lights and shoot red lasers out its eyes. Poor Merlion. Hope this never happens to the national symbol of your home country. 6516275-0388. Adults S$3 (US$1.70), children S$2 (US$1.15). Daily 9am-10pm. Monorail stop 1 and 4. Silori WonderGolf Sentosa This place is definitely miniature golf, but without the windmill. Instead, holes are made tricky using greens landscaped with rock designs and water features set on tiny terraces up the side of a steep slope. 6516275-2011. Adults S$8 (USS4.55), children S$4 (US$2.30). Daily 9am-9pm. Monorail stop 4.
Underwater World * Kids Underwater World is without a doubt one of the most visited attractions on Sentosa. Everybody comes for the tunnel: 83m (272 ft.) of transparent acrylic tube through which you glide on a conveyor belt, gaping at sharks, stingrays, eels, and other creatures of the sea drifting by, above and on both sides. At 11:30am, 2:30pm, and 4:30pm daily, a scuba diver hops in and feeds them by hand. In smaller tanks you can view other unusual sea life like the puffer fish and the mysteriously weedy and leafy sea dragons. Then there's the latest display of bamboo shark embryos, developing within egg caseswhat's keeping you?
