The Crazy Elephant Crazy Elephant is the city's address for blues. Hang out n cooling breezes blowing off the river while listening to classic rock and blues !,v resident bands. This place has hosted, in addition to the best local and ugional guitarists, international great such as Rick Derringer, Eric Burdon, and and walter Trout. It's an unpretentious place to chill out and have a cold one. Beer , reasonably priced as well. The Fat Frog Cafe More a cafe than a bar, Fat Frog draws folks who prefer unversation without intrusive music. The patio at the back of this place stays quiet in the afternoons, and at night fills up, but rarely becomes overcrowded. I he main attraction is its location-behind the Substation, a hub for Singapore's visual and performing-arts scene, making this place a good stop after a ,how. Sometimes you can even run into performers and other majors from the !()cal scene. Inside you'll find a bulletin board promoting current shows, performances, and openings. Around the patio courtyard walls local painters contribute mural work to the decor. There is a limited menu available. Hard Rock Cafe The Hard Rock Cafe in Singapore is like the Hard Rock Cafe in your hometown. You probably don't go to that one, so don't bother spending your vacation time in this one either. Not that it's all bad-the Filipino bands are usually pretty good and, of course, so are the burgers. Other than that it's not much more than a tourist pickup joint. Bring mace. There is a cover charge of S$23 (US$13) Fri-Sat only, and includes your first drink. Sun-Mon 1 drink minimum charge. Hours are Sun-Thurs llam-2am; Fri-Sat llam-3am.
