URBAN AREA 4

If you overstay your visa, report immediately to the SIR. Even the most conscientious travelers can overstay their visas. At immigration, you'll be asked to hand over your passport, departure record, your airline ticket to prove your return flight, and you'll be asked to write a letter to explain why you did not depart on time. They'll ask you to return the next day to retrieve your documents. In certain cases they may even require that you undergo an interview with an immigration official. If this happens, I strongly recommend that you act very humble, grovel, and beg forgiveness. The minimum fine for overstaying is S$50 (US$29), but the officer can charge you more. Again, it's at his discretion. If you are unfortunate enough to have overstayed for over a month or two, you may be arrested and punished, which means jail time orcaning. How about that for a holiday story to take back to your friends?
